Three Types of People Revisited

In the Spiritual Exercises there’s a meditation on “three types of people.” I believe we’re misled, although, by Ignatius naming these individuals as static “types” relatively than dynamic beings, varieties of individuals who cross some line and supposedly turn out to be without end. In this life, I don’t know that any of us is ever static. We are continually transferring, both in direction of or away from God. Our petty desires transfer us away. Our centered want to be one with God strikes us in direction of God.

On that dynamic journey we every have occasions of being all three individuals—occasions we’re simply too busy and don’t make the time to develop on this instantaneous; occasions we do and say all the suitable issues however don’t face what is basically hindering us from rising; and occasions of equilibrium, once we can solid off our desires, understanding true success lies past them.
